A hidden gem in Manchester lane in Melbourne CBD close to Flinders Station. All our orders were cooked to perfection - BBQ Baby Back Pork ribs was fantastic. Seafood Linguine was amazing and the Grilled Calamari Aglio was so tasty.Service was great and even got better when we met the beautiful and kind owner couple. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.Hats off to Betty and Eddie ! We did have a great time in your restaurant and we will be back for sure.

First time visiting Melbourne. Found this little gem on the 1st night. The food was that good I visited on my 2nd night too.The staff were brilliant, the food was beautiful. You could tell it was freshly made. Definitely worth a visit.

First time eating here, was supposed to eat at the Trattoria next door but the manager was bit snarky when we asked for an available table.Glad we actually walked to here instead. The staff were all approachable. There was an elderly couple which I believe are the owners and are helping out around the restaurant.The food was amazing and wasn’t a super long wait even though it was a busy day on a Saturday (Dec 27). We ordered a platter for 2 and a risotto on the side.It’s a gem in this laneway and would be back to try our their other dishes :)

Had a fantastic dinner at Ginger Olive.We started with a mixed grill-style platter featuring perfectly cooked seafood, crispy onion rings, grilled vegetables, and a beautifully seasoned sausage — everything was fresh, hot, and full of flavour.For mains, the pasta dishes really stood out. The gnocchi in rich, slow-cooked ragu was comforting and hearty, while the rigatoni with meat sauce was deeply savoury and generously portioned. Paired with a smooth Chianti, it was an excellent combination.The atmosphere is lively but relaxed, service was attentive without being intrusive, and the food came out promptly. Great spot for a cozy dinner or a catch-up with friends. Will definitely be back.

Thank you to the amazing team for another outstanding meal. We shared the BBQ meat platter for two — incredibly tender and packed with flavour. We’ve dined here twice in a month and both visits were flawless, whether for a large group or an intimate table for two. Every dish was exceptional. Our new Melbourne favourite.

Cosy, welcoming, and quietly tucked away in Manchester Lane - it feels like a calm little hideout. Great service and genuinely unique flavours.Highlights were the grilled calamari (perfectly cooked) and the pandan coconut panna cotta (fragrant + not too sweet). Can’t wait to go back!

Great meal at Ginger Olive. I had the reef and beef. The beef melted off the bone. The prawns were delicious. Staff were so friendly. Look forward to returning and trying more dishes.

This place is amazing,the steak here is outstanding, long time I didn't eat a steak that great,the surprise was not the steak it was the salad too, we ordered salad ,fille steak,and tenderloin steak,of course the way you like some like it well done some like it medium, the service is awesome 👌, I think the waiters name is franka if I'm not mistaken.I recommend this place for you great meal.

My partner and I were visiting from Sydney and stumbled across this place during our day out . Stated we would be back for dinner as we did. Randomly stumbled across this place while looking for food and everywhere was packed after the F1, this place had a few tables. We were blown away by this place. The food was gorgeous and the staff even more so. Could not finish the food as the serves were gigantic. Would come here with a large group next time, so nothing goes to waste. I think this was the best short ribs I ever had in a restaurant. Fat content is limited. It is all meat. Well cooked and spiced.We also had seafood pasta which the kids loved. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.

Came in for dinner last minute, unreserved.Our host Vince was very genuine, accomodating and helpful.We started with an orange juice and furphy ale.Our mains were both pasta dishes which were good. On both dishes we noted there were a failure for appropriate seasoning. No pepper on tables.The food did come out hot and fast.We were interested in dessert however the restaurant had become super busy so we gave it a miss.Big compliments to our host Vince.Thanks for your help and insights

In a central location and serving up great food and service. We had the barramundi and steak. An excellent steak for sure one of the best value yet, and the Barra was great too apparently. The coconut and Pandan creme brulee featured too. Well worth a visit.

We had been wanting to visit Ginger & Olive since 2023, but never managed to get there until last night, and I can honestly say it was absolutely worth the wait!From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. We ordered the BBQ chicken, crispy prawns, and grilled calamari, and every dish was paired beautifully. The food was an easy 10/10. As someone who loves grilled food and has had plenty of it over the years, I don't say this lightly: the BBQ chicken was perfection. Marinated in plum sauce, it was incredibly juicy, succulent, and cooked with the perfect amount of char from the grill. Every bite was packed with flavour.A special mention to Diane, who looked after us throughout the evening. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely lovely. She took the time to double-check our order and recommended desserts that turned out to be the highlight of the night.We finished with the sticky pudding and dark chocolate tart, and both were absolutely delicious. The sticky pudding, in particular, was hands down one of the best I've ever had.What made the experience even more special was seeing the owners, husband and wife, actively involved in the restaurant. They were helping staff with everything, even setting up chairs, and taking the time to check in with customers to make sure everyone was enjoying their meal. That level of care and hands-on involvement was genuinely heartwarming to see.Fantastic food, wonderful service, amazing desserts, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. We won't be waiting another two years before coming back!

My wife and I live on the Gold Coast and came for one weeks break, shopping etc in Melbourne. We came across this restaurant by chance. Around 4 30pm on the last day before heading back to the Gold Coast. What a shame we didn't eat there on our first night. The hole experience from when we entered the Ginger Olive was outstanding. Such wonderful people greeted us and took us to our table. The food all in all, was outstanding ( 5 stars from start to finish). If your ever in Melbourne, you must visit Ginger Olive and see how a restaurant should be run. Well done to all the staff there for giving me and my wife a truly wonderful experience. We ordered:🍖 reef & beefMy bf loves the beef short ribs (in the reef & beef). It was tender and fall off the bones. The barramundi also cooked well.🐷 chargrill bbq porkThis one is my favourite. The sauce is just heaven! And the pork was juicy and flavourful.Their salad on the side was good too. Good amount of dressing.We were asked about drink like 5 times (by every diff staff there), so that was a bit annoying. But I guest thats because they have so many staff but wasnt busy yet.

We frequently go to musicals and concerts, so we're always careful to allow plenty of time for dinner and the walk to the theatre. We also choose dishes that are quick to prepare rather than ordering food that takes longer to cook.Unfortunately, despite letting the staff know we had a show to attend, and trying to get the attention of staff to order also meant some time wasted there, our meals didn't arrive until much later and only had about 20 minutes or less to eat. We ended up having to rush through our food instead of being able to enjoy it.It's a real shame because the food itself was piping hot and delicious. We just wish the timing had been managed a little better so we could have appreciated the meal without having to scoff it down before rushing off to the theatre.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐We hosted our Melbourneteam dinner at Ginger Olive today with 19 guests and it was an absolutely wonderful evening from start to finish!From the very first interaction with Eduardo and his team, the level of professionalism, warmth and genuine care shown throughout the entire planning process was outstanding. Every request we made — from vegetarian menu alternatives, individual alternate serve plating, extended dining time, a dedicated Service Manager and a complimentary welcome drink — was accommodated without hesitation and delivered flawlessly on the night.The food was exceptional. The 3-Course Set Menu 2 was a real highlight — the Fresh Filled Ravioli was beautifully light and flavourful, the Duo of Ribs and Reef & Beef were generous and impressive, the Seared Tasmanian Salmon was elegantly presented, and the Crispy Eggplant Parmigiana was a wonderful vegetarian addition that Eduardo kindly arranged for us. Desserts were the perfect finish to a wonderful meal.What truly stood out was how seamlessly the team managed 19 guests — every dish arrived together, every guest was looked after, and the service throughout the evening was attentive, professional and genuinely warm. Our dedicated Service Manager was exceptional and made the entire evening run effortlessly.Ginger Olive is a hidden gem on Flinders Lane and we could not recommend it more highly for corporate group dining. We booked because we needed a quick dinner before seeing a show. We don't usually eat so early and apparently neither does anyone else. Anyway we were both pleasantly surprised by our lovely meals at Ginger Olive. My husband ordered Baby Back Ribs and as soon as he cut into them I could see how tender they were- the meat literally fell off the bone. Very tasty and came with salad. I ordered a steak, rare. It came cooked to perfection also accompanied by a really nice salad and mushroom sauce. We both cleaned our plates. One of the nicer meals we have had lately and at quite a good pricepoint. We will come again when we aren't pressed for time, the desserts looked great but we had to rush off. The service was also great. We had a cocktail and a cider as well. Great!

We had such a wonderful dining experience here recently. Every dish was presented beautifully, especially the calamari, which was served with such vibrant, fresh edible flowers that it felt like a work of art on the plate.The portions were generous and everything tasted incredibly fresh. We particularly loved the garlic bread, which arrived perfectly toasted and golden brown, making it the perfect side to our main meals. We left feeling completely satisfied and cannot wait to come back.

We had a wonderful dining experience for dinner at this restaurant, unfortunately we took no photos. Our prawn starter only had 3 Prawns with the Mango salad which while on the smaller side was a lovely start to the meal and felt just right. The steak was cooked to perfection and as ordered, and the duck gnocchi was a stand-out. The carbonara was delicious and not too creamy. We had room for dessert and the pandan creme brulee was yummy but a little overpowering so did not finish but nice to try, and the chocolate torte and sticky date pudding were divine. Atmosphere was fantastic and staff were wonderful, thank you for a great dining experience. Pricing was reasonable for the fantastic food, and not too over-priced compared to what you may pay elsewhere.
